Bosch´s Thermotechnology division, global leader in development and production of heating and hot water solution, provides comfort through highly energy efficient and environmental friendly solutions. It focus, above all, on sustainable resource management, as well as on system flexibility and user friendliness to clients benefit.

This division is represented by Bosch in Aveiro in Portugal - a global competence center for hot water solutions in the Thermotechnology unit.

With more than 1,100 employees, this location is responsible for develop and manufacture boilers, heat pumps and water heaters, exporting it to more than 30 countries around the world.

In 2016, Bosch in Aveiro saw its unit grow with the inauguration of the second R&D building which represents an investment of 25 million euros by 2020. Technologies for more sustainable homes focused essentially on connectivity, energy efficiency and emission reductions will be developed here. Smart Green Home will be one of the projects to be developed. In partnership with the University of Aveiro, the team will develop innovative hot water solutions focused on connectivity, renewable energies and energy efficiency to make homes more sustainable.

The first compact thermostatic water heater with glass front and touch panel - Sensor Connect - was developed in this unit in Aveiro, becoming the first device with connectivity technology: it can be remoted controlled from a tablet or smartphone throughout an app. Sensor Connect was recognized with the Red Dot Award 2015 for its design and COTEC NORS 2015 for its innovation.
