The future of mobility starts in Braga!
In 2013, Bosch initiated a Research & Development partnership with the University of Minho, seen as an excellence model in Europe.
The first phase was marked by HMIExcel (Human Machine Interface Excellence, 2012-2015), a research project around the advanced multimedia solutions for automobiles in the human-machine relationship.
With an investment of 19 million euros and the support of the Portuguese Government, over 80 highly qualified fellows and engineers succeeded in achieving all targets defined for the project: patent applications, execution of scientific publications and deliverables.
Thanks to the success of HMIExcel the R&D partnership between Bosch and the University of Minho started a new program in 2015 called INNOVATIVE Car HMI. The project embraces ideas and solutions that anticipate upcoming challenges in the future of mobility.
The main target for the Innovative Car HMI project is to provide holistic solutions in instrumentation and infotainment for future car dash boards embedded in the world of connectivity and autonomous driving, according to the vision of driving convenience.
By 2018, more than 54 million euros will be invested to support a large number of research lines that will work to create solutions that make life easier, safer, more comfortable and more Eco-friendly.
Bosch and the University of Minho strongly believe that the skills of all engineers and fellows involved in the R&D activities are the key success factor to shaping the future.
As a leading player in the evolution of Car Human Machine Interface, Bosch continues working on innovative solutions in order to provide new communications systems, cloud applications, augmented reality displays and new sensor functions that will be part of the future car cockpit.
